Together with friends I had an unbelievably striking trip to Kyrgyzstan. Ulan proved himself a very safe, easy-going and worldly ski-touring guide. I gladly recommend Ulan. Beyond the ski-touring, Ulan also gave us deep insight into the country, its people, traditions and culture. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

We had the best possible ski-touring holiday with Ulan from EcoNomad. Great tours, careful guidance with great know-how and elite skills. The trip was very well planned and organised, which allowed us joyful moments on skis and rich cultural experiences. Kyrgyzstan is a beautiful country, the people are very friendly and the food is delicious. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

A Kyrgyz proverb says: 'Mountains do not meet, but people do.' Throughout this unforgettable journey we met mountains, each one different — sometimes welcoming, sometimes hard to conquer. We met men and women, all different but all welcoming. So many discoveries: a livestock market, transhumance and dust-covered herds, nomads with hard lives, fermented mare's milk, a proud country grappling with a Soviet past and a giant Chinese neighbour, an Islam that draws the young, the warmth of the capital and snow at 3,500 m, yak and horse soups… And nothing would have been the same without our guide Nuraly — a cultured, kind, professional and excellent walker. Thanks too to Djappar, our driver who doubled as a history teacher. Don't hesitate!

Two weeks across Kyrgyzstan in August 2025 let us appreciate its mountains, people and traditions. Aruuke from Economad led us through a wonderful trip — proud of her country, fluent in French, she revealed a still little-known land. Maxsat the driver handled the often chaotic roadworks smoothly. We particularly enjoyed the two days with the nomadic herders at Kol-Ukok and the 3-day trek over Ala-Köl Pass with the attentive guide Djamil. We also had the privilege of meeting Nuraly, the agency's founder — cultured and very kind, he spoke about his country with passion. We recommend Economad!

This trip to Kyrgyzstan leaves me with very fond memories: breathtaking landscapes and lovely encounters. Far from mass tourism. Every step, every glance, every meeting reminded me how adventure can transform and open up to what is essential. I recommend Economad and Nuraly, its guide and head of the agency, for his competence and kindness. He shared his love of the country with us. Thanks also to his wife, their son Arno, and the driver Alym. The travel companions were lovely too. Everything was right for making this 18-day trip a moment a little outside time. — Bernard

Back from almost 4 weeks in Kyrgyzstan — 18 days with EcoNomad, then a week on our own. Everything was exceptional thanks to: the magnificence and immensity of the landscapes (lakes, mountains, high plateaus, rivers, torrents); the beauty and abundance of wild flora and fauna; the nomads' way of life and the warmth of their hospitality (and their yurts); Bishkek, vibrant or quiet, its historical heritage, cultural life, green parks, and growing modernity; the history, geography and cultural habits of its people. All this thanks to Nuraly's erudition, his calm and joyful company in the city or on long mountain hikes, his organisational skill and adaptability, his professionalism, his love of his country and of the French language! And thanks to Alim who drove us safely in his comfortable minibus, from city traffic to the chaotic tracks deep in the long valleys of the Tian Shan. Images and moments of wonder and sharing that will remain in our memories forever. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!

Nuraly, our guide, was a former French teacher but also brought the rigour of a maths professor to optimising the trip. The organisation was perfect, the immersion total, boredom unknown. Local cuisine was a pleasant surprise with constantly varied dishes. We enjoyed a very comfortable bus, which made driving Kyrgyz roads a pleasure. Bring solid trekking poles and a proper sleeping bag — Kyrgyz mid-mountains sit above 2,000 m. Photos will never reflect the magic of the landscapes — that is reason enough to come to this country, considered by all the bikers and travellers I met as the most beautiful in Central Asia. Kyrgyzstan (3 weeks in June 2025) was an exceptional discovery for us — both for its breathtaking landscapes and our contact with the Kyrgyz people. Thanks to the great chemistry between two true professional guides — Clément of the French agency Nunam Aventures, a wonderful animator with devastating humour, and Ulan, Nuraly's son, an accomplished athlete who happily adjusted the programme to weather and ongoing roadworks, and above all engaged our exchanges with the Kyrgyz (translating into French!), always smiling. A big thank-you to both, to our driver Roma, and to our 5 travel companions!

Thanks to Nuraly for organising wonderful family holidays with our children and 6 grandchildren aged 2 to 12 over almost 3 weeks (21 July – 8 August 2025). Big thanks too to our guide Chynara, perfectly French-speaking, who watched over us with gentleness and professionalism — both children and adults adopted her quickly. Thanks to Alhem, our minibus driver, with whom we shared good moments despite the language barrier. This destination is perfectly suited to family travel — even a large family of 14 people aged 2 to 68. Children loved the closeness of the animals, adults the landscapes and walks, and everyone adored the jailoo (summer pastures) stay and sharing nomadic life. We recommend EcoNomad — they listened to the expectations of both kids and adults to build a programme that delighted us all!

We spent three weeks in June 2025 in Kyrgyzstan, rich in varied colourful landscapes, spontaneous and arranged encounters with the locals (nomads, musicians, storytellers, weavers, yurt-makers...) and superb hikes. We owe it all to our Kyrgyz guide Ulan from Economad — phenomenal mastery of languages (Kyrgyz, Russian, French, English, Spanish), an innate sense of contact, and flexibility in organising to make the trip unforgettable. With Ulan I add Roma, our always-available driver and excellent mechanic, and Clément, our French guide, who brings energy to the group. For all these reasons I strongly encourage anyone wanting to discover an authentic country far from over-tourism to contact the agency.

This is the third time I have come back from a stay in Kyrgyzstan under Nuraly's guidance — my friend. What joy from this last trip with the group of 10 I had encouraged, telling them they would not be disappointed (with the trip). Well, it went beyond my hopes. Nuraly let us discover nature in all its splendour, going to homestays to discover their lives, customs and warm hospitality. A five-star journey we will never forget — and which some of my friends only want to do again. Thank you Nuraly for your professionalism, kindness and good humour. The hikes adapted to the group, the picnics, the chosen sleeping spots — all leave a wonderful memory. Spring 2024. We spent ten wonderful days exploring Uzbekistan with friends, accompanied by Nuraly and Hayot — discovering the culture and fantastic sites. Our guides' knowledge, teaching and availability were remarkable. Organisation and logistics were perfect. We continued as a couple, with Ulan, to discover Kyrgyzstan for 13 days. This second part was nature- and hiking-oriented. On 27 April 2023 I flew to Kyrgyzstan — my third stay. Something special: I was introducing Kyrgyzstan to a friend. The trip was entirely personalised. The theme was sporty — horse-rides, hikes and mountain biking in the canyons. Faultless organisation, staff adapting to demand, chance encounters. All this contributed to a wonderful trip. I can only thank Nuraly again, his family, Ulan our guide (perfectly French-speaking) and all the Kyrgyz met along the way — at the Bishkek theatre and university, in town, in the mountains, at the refuge with the Russians, with the nomads, and the few Europeans seeking discovery.

Hello Nuraly, I want to share feedback from our Kyrgyzstan trip. My survey of participants is complete and the results are very positive. The trip was well designed; accommodation quality ranged from 'satisfactory' to 'very good' (one real disappointment: the Avrora hotel in Cholpon-Ata — uncomfortable rooms, unfriendly staff; the Tri Koroni based on the website description would have suited better). The yurt experience was good — but not for more than 2 or 3 nights. The two nights at Green Yard were appreciated by everyone (comfort, cleanliness, professional staff). Meals were 'good' to 'very good' — never disappointing. Kyrgyz cuisine was a pleasant surprise even in remote yurts. One remark: portion sizes surprised everyone — I told them this is part of Kyrgyz culture and hospitality. Everyone enjoyed meals at your mother's place, at your home on the last day, and homestays — they retained the convivial nature of these visits. Music evenings during yurt stays charmed everyone. The number of hikes was right; they were taken with the wide spaces, wild and mass-tourism-free nature. Guide Emoji was very effective on the hikes. Drivers were professional, efficient, discreet and courteous. One small wish: travellers used a guide using a microphone in the bus to give detailed cultural information during long drives — could the minibus be equipped with a small mic and amp? In conclusion, all returned enchanted and would happily set off again. Thank you Nuraly — you led our Kyrgyz mountain journey masterfully. EcoNomad kept its promises and showed us a country off the beaten path. Your French is impeccable — congratulations! It certainly contributed to the smooth running of the trip. You always listened and did everything to make our stay pleasant. Thanks for everything.

July 2021. My third Kyrgyzstan circuit with EcoNomad — this time with a group of friends. A real time of 'safe breathing' during this still-COVID period. The 17-day route, well thought-out and balanced between nature and culture, took us to the south at the foot of the Lenin Peak range (7,134 m) and through the country's other surprisingly diverse landscapes — situated on the legendary Silk Road. Nuraly is truly a remarkable guide. Attentive to each, he gave us quality services; he made unplanned, simple, luminous, moving encounters with the population happen whenever possible; he had us share semi-nomadic traditional life alongside members of his family, in the yurt set up in the extraordinary Kamandy valley; he reserved many delicious surprises, and we shared Kyrgyz songs letting our minds drift to the sound of the komuz. Dear Nuraly, the return trip went well — we got home Sunday afternoon. A few impressions: we found your country with great joy, having already been here in 2008 — and after 10 years it has remained as we loved it: beautiful, simple, welcoming. We hadn't been to the south, only around Issyk-Kul and the Saryshat-Ertash reserve, and were astounded by the landscapes on the Osh / Sary-Tash / Irkeshtam / Torugart Pass / Naryn / Song-Kol circuit. Nights at Sary-Tash, Tash-Rabat and Song-Kol were wonderful. Yurt, refuge and guesthouse stays were very pleasant — a welcome we appreciate greatly. Nurjamal, our guide, was fantastic in trip management and in sharing knowledge and love of country, all with warmth and kindness. Aman and Jyldyzbek, our drivers, were also adorable, very attentive (like all Kyrgyz!). The Chinese part was also very beautiful — following the Karakorum Highway to Karakul Lake gives fantastic landscapes, and old Kashgar is splendid. Chinese border zones are less pleasant; spending nearly two days entering and exiting China is impressive (interesting and amusing once). Obviously the Chinese have another vision of tourism (mass tourism — the Kashi hotel has 168 rooms!). On their country and population scale, perhaps… (Nicolas/Tian was proud to tell us Xinjiang province alone is 3 times France, and a 500,000-inhabitant city like Kashgar is a village in China!). Coming back, we were happy to find Kyrgyz wide spaces and welcome again — but very glad to have made this Uyghur-country incursion, contributing to our trip's interest. Anne, Jean-François and Jacques join me in warmly thanking you for designing and organising these 3 weeks for us. Everything was perfect. — Catherine

A unique trip into the immensity of the Tian Shan. In Ella Maillart's footsteps, with Nuraly's kindness, we discovered a magnificent authentic country. A return to true values… Like Ella, we became part of the rain, the sun, the wind — of Nature. Thanks Nuraly for transmitting your love of country to us. Despite the 77 years separating us from Ella Maillart's first crossing of the Tian Shan, we still found nomads and pure places — may it last! Beauty and authenticity have no price… Thanks Nuraly for continuing to preserve your magnificent lands and your richness of heart. ('Why travel so much when you can find answers and wisdom in books? I'm not bookish; words are not enough for me. I needed to meet people who lived their wisdom.' — Ella Maillart, in 'This Reality I Pursued'. We had an unforgettable 3-week trip with Ulan and the Economad crew! It was planned exactly per our wishes — one week of trekking, one week of cycling, and one week of horse-riding. All three can be highly recommended with an amazing variety of nature and immersion in the local way of life. We loved the country so much that we are already thinking about going back when we can — it's very safe, has delicious food, and you'll meet the most welcoming people!

Back from a 2-week authentic trip in welcoming Kyrgyzstan — and I want to give a big thanks to our guide Nuraly, very close to nature and very attentive to us. He let us discover his beautiful country during a 15-day circuit between snow-capped mountains, splendid lakes, yurt camps with the warm nomads and their herds of magnificent horses, sheep, yaks and cows. Nuraly speaks perfect French and knows his country thoroughly, geographically and culturally — and builds many bonds with locals. A real joy. You too — make an out-of-the-ordinary trip to this captivating country with multiple landscapes, with Nuraly and his team. You will return enchanted and dazzled.

After 15 days in Kyrgyzstan, the quality of the trip designed by ECONOMAD deserves a few impressions: Bishkek, capital of this independent Central Asian republic, retaining its former USSR character — vast avenues with central reservations, austere public-monument architecture, roundabouts adorned with statues honouring great past figures, and decrepit 1950s social housing. The road to Issyk-Kul reveals the Burana Tower and Tokmok fields, and a bit further the Cholpon-Ata petroglyphs. The Karakol livestock market is genuinely spectacular, the moment unchanged from past decades — a must for anyone who loves travel. The gentle climb to the Kamandy valley summer pastures (jailoo) gradually immerses us in nomad living conditions for 4–5 months. Yurt nights at 3,000 m bring us close to the Kyrgyz nomads whose kindness strikes us. Herds are everywhere, and many horses prance free. A departure for At-Bashy brings us close to the highly-monitored Chinese border and the Tash-Rabat caravanserai on the old Silk Road. Then we reach the magnificent multicoloured mountain lake Song-Kol surrounded by 5,000 m peaks. The return to Bishkek alternates linear small towns along the highways, troglodyte villages nestled in valleys, and pass crossings. Throughout the trip we were accompanied by Nuraly and the team of drivers. The quality of their services is remarkable and undoubtedly deserves 5 yurts.

I joined an Eco-Nomad trip in Kyrgyzstan in June 2018. As a fan of the writer Chinghiz Aitmatov, this trip had been on my 'to-do' list for years — the moment had come to make it happen! I loved the 15-day circuit — a good mix of cultural and sport activities. I particularly enjoyed: the welcome and ambition of the Eco-Nomad team — Nuraly and his team were eager to show us this little-known country. All our questions were welcomed; meetings with restaurateurs, craftsmen and their families let us understand Kyrgyz history and recent evolutions. The team also responded to individual wishes — pleasant to receive that attention. Circuit construction was rich and varied — capital, Karakol, natural sites (e.g. petroglyphs) and the country's vast territory with spectacular nature on beautiful walks and horse rides. Legendary Kyrgyz hospitality — convivial, delicious, abundant meals with local ingredients and beautiful presentation. To set the mood, prepare your trip with Aitmatov: 'Jamilia' (Aragon called it the most beautiful love story ever written), 'There was a White Ship', 'Farewell Gulsary'… Bon voyage! Bring your sleeping bag — nights are cool at altitude. P.S. I came back with a felt rug! — Ulrike

Thanks to Nuraly and his EcoNomad team, our small troupe of 18 from the Théâtre de l'Echelle (Oulens-sous-Echallens, Switzerland) had three weeks of magnificent adventures in May 2018. We performed Anouilh's Antigone twice before 650 spectators at the Bishkek National Theatre with three Kyrgyz actors initiated into French by Nuraly; we shared the life and culture of our Kyrgyz friends; visited the country's north-east around Issyk-Kul and Karakol with their natural and historical riches; we walked, rode horses, slept in yurts, ate like kings… But above all we made beautiful encounters with humble but rich people in this magnificent country. Bravo and thanks Nuraly for your help and friendship. Everything was perfect — welcome, support, programme, professionalism of the whole team (drivers, translators, guides).
